I think you will find these websites interesting. If you are interested in homeopathy Friends of Homeopathy ( www.homeopathyactiontrust.org ) This organisation is for non-practitioners and patients. It has an informative website, showing recent research and debate, and it produces an excellent magazine [ Picture of Health ] for its members, which provides an insight into the world of homeopathy, and discusses current issues through articles by some of the best practitioners around. ProfessionalAlliance of Registered Homeopaths ( www.a-r-h.org ) This is my professional organisation, and one of the three large UK organisations registering professional homeopaths. The others are: the Society of Homeopaths, and the UK Homeopathic Association. Our website shows you what you can expect from its members in terms of professionalism. Faculty of Homeopathy ( www.trusthomeopathy.org ) This is the organisation representing medical homeopaths (as opposed to professional homeopaths). Most are GPs, and an increasing number are nurses, dentists, and vets. An excellent body of homeopathic research is also listed. Lakeland College ( www.thelakelandcollege.co.uk ) This is the college where I completed my training. They have a particular philosophy of healing, and a special kind of idealism, which I found attractive and which set me on my path as a homeopath. College of Integrative Homeopathy ( www.theintegrativecollege.co.uk ) This college is run by the radical thinker on holistic medicine, Paul Francis. He suggests a completely new way of looking at health and illness, and from my observation, is the first to suggest a truly holistic framework for diagnosis and treatment, which he calls the Energy Model. In this model, the five metaphoric elements (ether, air, fire, water, and earth) each have an influence on both our energy-bodies and our physical-bodies, and all treatments, from counselling, to body-work, to pharmaceutical drugs, to nutrition, herbs, homeopathics, essences, colours, and sounds, all have their place in an ordered and systematic way. PharmaciesHelios Pharmacy ( www.helios.co.uk ) Helios supplies most homeopaths with their homeopathic remedies. They have been in existence for nearly 30 years, and have rightly achieved a reputation for rigour and excellence. They sell excellent mini kits for: travelling, first-aid, and childbirth. Healthlines ( www.healthlines.co.uk ) One of the foremost suppliers of flower and gem essences in the UK. Has a very nice website, which you will find informative and easy-to-use. NutritionPatrick Holford – Nutritionist ( www.patrickholford.com ) Patrick is at the forefront of Optimum Nutrition in the UK, and is having increasing influence throughout Europe. His books cover the full spectrum of illness, through every age-group, and his non-profit organisation does some of the only independent research on diet and nutrition in the world. Essences and elixirs Dr Edward Bach ( www.bachcentre.com )Dr Edward Bach, a conventionally trained doctor, and homeopath, working in the 1920s and 1930s, was the father of flower essence therapy. He became convinced, through detailed observation and experience with his patients, that flower essences reached the core beliefs and emotions which gave rise to a lot of their illnesses. He produced 38 essences, all of them still popular today – I'm sure you have heard of ‘Rescue Remedy'. Nowadays, going beyond Bach, we use a wide range of essence ‘sets', ranging from Australian Bush Flowers to Alaskan Environmental Essences to Wild Animal Essences. Healthlines ( www.healthlines.co.uk ) One of the foremost suppliers of flower and gem essences in the UK. Has a very nice website, which you will find informative and easy-to-use. Health PoliticsAlliance of Natural Health ( www.alliance-natural-health.org ) This organisation, under the leadership of Dr Verkerk, has been at the forefront of trying to stop the EU from introducing its new Vitamins and Minerals Legislation into the EU. This legislation will stop the sale of most vitamins and minerals in health food stores in the UK. Zeus Information Service ( info@zeusinfoservice.com ) A regular digest of web articles from around the world on alternative health and health politics. It's free, but since it's run by volunteers, donations are welcome. Complete history of homeopathyDr A Campbell www.acampbell.org.uk Homeopathy in Perspective : in this on-line book, a former Consultant Physician at the Royal London Homeopathic Hospital takes an experienced look at the history, efficacy, and science, of homeopathy. Alternative Views on Health PracticeDr Mercola ( www.mercola.com ) Though quite confrontational, this site offers a whole range of articles and products on everything in the alternative medical field. His special field is nutrition. Positive Health Magazine ( www.positivehealth.com ) This excellent free on-line journal collects articles on a complete range of alternative and complementary therapies. It also has a useful section detailing research recently carried out on alternative medicine in universities around the world. What Doctors Don't Tell You Journal ( www.wddty.co.uk) This subscription journal has the aim of analysing, and if necessary debunking, conventional medical approaches to disease, and then to offer alternative approaches. It is well-researched, and more anti-drug-company than anti-doctor – after all, whether we're medical doctors or alternative practitioners, the patient is always the first priority. Dr Vernon Coleman ( www.vernoncoleman.com ) Vernon Coleman is a one-man anti-establishment campaign. However, he is really worth reading. He writes articles and books galore, on just about everything, but in particular, when he writes about health he absolutely hits the button. |
